Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

Uganda, the Pearl of Africa, is home to over half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Trekking in the dense tropical forest of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Mgahinga delivers an intimate, unmatched and raw wilderness experience that feels more adventurous than ever.

Mountain gorillas are critically endangered, with only around 1,000 left in the wild. Seeing these gentle giants in their natural habitat supports conservation while creating a profound connection to nature.

Imagine standing just meters away from a massive silverback gorilla as he smashes on vegetation in their jaws, his family playing nearby in the misty forest. The air is thick with the scent of virgin earth and wild greenery. It’s a raw, life-changing encounter in the wild

Park Location and access.

The parks are located in the south western part of Uganda accessible by both road and air (chattered flights from Entebbe/Kajansi to Kisoro airstrip) transport. The main entrance to Uganda is Entebbe international airport.

The road distance from Entebbe airport to Bwindi impenetrable national park is approximate to 550km through Kampala city-Mbarara city and Kabale town up to the park.

By air transport. Departure points, 1-2hr flights are operated domestically and departure can either be from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) or Kajjansi airfield.

Ground transfer. Since Bwindi is a dense, remote forest, so your flight will not land directly inside the park. Once you land at Kihihi or Kisoro, you will need to complete the journey with a 1 to 3-hour road transfer to your specific lodge or trailhead.
